iTunes 8.2 released ahead of next-gen iPhone announcement

Apple has released an update to its massively popular iTunes software ahead of the expected launch of the next-gen iPhone 3.0.

At a jot under 80MB the download shouldn’t take too long to grab – as long as you’re not still on dial-up, and Apple re-assuringly states on the download page that the download will be compatible with iPhones and iPod Touch devices running the upcoming OS3.0.

This in itself is only marginally exciting, given the current release status of OS 3.0 or 3.0-equipped devices, but it does mean that from the minute we get our hands on the shiny new iPhone we’ll be ready to get transferring from the get-go.

Whilst not the most glamorous update it should bring enhanced stability with the addition of an auto-reporting feature to help eliminate app crashes for the future.

If you’d like to get your mitts on the iTunes 8.2 release, then point your browser at the Official iTunes Page for more info.

WWDC starts on the 8th June, at which point the tech world is almost certainly going to lose its mind over the new iPhone. We can hardly wait.
