Zune HD release date – 5th September 2009
We’ve just heard that Microsoft’s hot new Zune HD PMP is rumoured to be launching on the 5th September this year…
Rumours about a Zune HD have been floating around for a while now and we now know that the Zune HD will be one of the first portable media players to feature an HD Radio, to provide crystal clear listening for your radio needs, as well as artist and song data too.
As it’s a seemingly capable little piece of kit it should have no problem in seamlessly managing your video, photo and music collection; a task which is navigated using the 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen display, and being OLED it means that we should see decent battery life out of the Zune too.
The device is clearly positioned to take on the iPod Touch as the “one-stop” PMP solution although we’re going to have to reserve judgement for now until we’ve seen the Windows CE based OS running in the flesh.
The Zune HD will come packing WiFi, and will be the first of the Zune family to include the Windows Internet Explorer browser, other long-standing Zune features such as the photo browser, Zune Pass, and podcast management will be present this time around too.
Microsoft is keeping tight lipped about the gaming direction of the Zune HD but we expect to hear more as we approach the rumoured 5th September 2009 release date that surfaced over at the ZuneBoards yesterday.
We’ll keep you updated, no word on price or capacity just yet, but we imagine it will be competitively placed against the iPod Touch.
