Nokia N900 UK release date delayed until December *Updated*
The Nokia N900 is apparently all-set for UK release – after several aborted attempts we’ll believe when we see it this time…
The Nokia N900 uber-phone has been given another UK release date following the announcement that the handset is now shipping in the US.
With more false starts than a twitchy 400-metre runner, the N900 is clearly beginning to test the patience of interested consumers; and the pre-order customers that ordered 2-months ago still left waiting patiently.
The news off a December 3rd release date will come as a relief to those who have been ignoring the swathe of other high-end launches that have either taken place or are fast-approaching.
If you’d like to be one of the first at home to get your hands on one then you can pre-order one from MobilePhonesDirect who have been informing pre-order customers via email of the on-your-doorstep date of December 3rd; fingers crossed that it isn’t pushed back once again – MPD does operate Nokia Retail, so we’re thinking that if anyone knew when it will actually arrive, it should be them.
That particular deal is on the Vodafone UK network and will set you back £34.26 per month for 2-years and includes 600 minutes of talk-time and “unlimited” texts and internet access.
Play.com has the SIM-free pre-order release date listed as December 31st and priced at £469.99; we think that Play is probably just hedging its bets with that particular date, either that, or it knows something that we don’t about SIM-free availability specifically.
It seems a little odd that Nokia has chosen to launch its new flagship N-Series device away from the comfort of its mass marketshare in Europe, but perhaps that wasn’t the original intention considering the multiple delays.
It’s been a bumpy ride for the N900 in the UK so far, and who knows how many potential customers have been lost to the repeated delays; but if the this latest source is to be believed, the N900 is finally just around the corner.
We’re still not holding our breath.
***UPDATE***
We’ve been informed that people who ordered from Nokia.co.uk have already received an IMEI number and UPS tracking ID in a shipping confirmation email. You lucky people.

What a load of rubbish! If this phone has been released in the USA why hasn’t any of the retail stores received stock yet? Both Amazon and Shopblt in the USA are yet to receive any stock of the N900. These reports of the N900 being available in the USA are nothing but a load of rubbish!!
Not that we’re disagreeing but this is why http://www.nokia.com/press/press-releases/showpressrelease?newsid=1355897 it’s being reported as on sale….if we were more cynical we’d wonder if Nokia was simply pre-announcing earlier than it could possibly hope to release to increase pre-orders and dissuade customers from choosing a competitors alternative in the meantime. Lucky we’re not cynical, huh…
I spoke to Nokia direct sales yesterday and they told me that the phone had started shipping out on the 23rd/24th. I’ve been told that I should expect my N900 on Friday/Monday. Happy days!
