Buyer’s Guide: Call of Duty (COD): Modern Warfare 2 – Game and Accessories
One of the hottest gaming releases of the year is nearly here folks, so we’ve put together a buyer’s guide for all the different versions and accessories that you can pick up online to make sure that they arrive in time for the big day. We know, we know, we’re too kind…
We’re eagerly anticipating the release of Call of Duty (COD): Modern Warfare 2 in the coming week (it’s due on the November 10th for those that didn’t know), and with our copy safely reserved on pre-order our mind began to wander whether we’d ordered everything we needed.
Sure the game is a must, but which version do you want?
Whether you’re part of the Microsoft or Sony brigade, it comes in a few different flavours.
First up there’s the standard edition which pretty much speaks for itself, just the game. This is what most people will end up buying.
For the more devoted, there’s the Hardened edition which includes the game in a “premium, special-edition SteelBook case with custom artwork”, as well as a separate “Behind the Lines” hardbound artbook by Inifity Ward.
Buyers of the Hardened edition will also be able to download the original Call of Duty and play it in the glory of HD. As winner of over 80 Game Of The Year Awards and 50 Editor’s Choice Awards, it’s not an extra to be sniffed at.
Naturally the game’s available on all major platforms in both editions; the regular version on the PS3 & XBOX 360 is priced at £43.99 on Amazon or £44.99 on Play.com. Check out our table below for full details.
PC gamers can pick up the game for just £34.99, and if you buy from Play.com you’ll get an exclusive downloadable media pack.
The Hardened edition is understandably a little pricer – £69.99 on XBOX 360 and PS3 – but then you do get exclusive artwork from the team, and a whole extra award winning game.
For the out-and-out hardcore fans, there’s the Prestige Edition which include the same as the Hardened version but with the added bonus of actual funcitoning night vision goggles – complete with an indvidually numbered and engraved stand for when the goggles aren’t in use.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the high profile of the game’s launch, there’s a whole host of other COD: Modern Warfare 2 paraphernalia you can pick up for the fully immersive shooter experience.
We’ve put it all together below for you, complete with links to the items from Amazon UK and Play.com…
