ISRO launches satellite with PSLV rocketPIB India

PSLV C37 is the 39th flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) series of rockets by the Indian space agency.

With the launch of this, ISRO's first space mission in this year kickstarted.

India has created history by successfully launching 104 satellites on a single mission, overtaking the previous record of 37 satellites launched by Russian Federation in 2014.

The lift-off took place as scheduled at 9.28 am from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, about 80 km from Chennai in near ideal conditions.

Exactly 17 minutes of the launch, Cartosat-2 was separated and a minute later the two ISRO nano satellites were put in the intended orbit. The 104 satellites consisted of three Indian satellites - the 714kg Cartosat-2 series satellite along with two other Indian satellites and 101 global co-passengers which were For Isro, it was a giant leap from 20 to 104.

The two Indian nano-satellites - INS-1A and INS-1B - were developed as co-passenger satellites to accompany the bigger satellites on PSLV.

Soon after the launch, PM Modi and others sent out tweets congratulating ISRO on its historic mission.

India on Wednesday morning created a world record by successfully putting into orbit 104 satellites, including the country's own Cartosat-2earth observation satellite. The weight of all 104 satellites weighs a total of 1378 KG. Watch out world! This kind of news makes me happy.

Earlier, the highest number of satellites launched on a single mission by ISRO was 20 satellites in June 2016, on board PSLV C34. The agency again successfully launched a GSLV-MkII rocket in September last.

In today's scheduled launch, among 104 satellites, three of them comprises of Indian satellites that belong to the line-up of Cartosat-2.

Narendra Modi: This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. "My hearty congratulations to the entire ISRO team for the wonderful job they have done".
